The backing on this log cabin
style quilt is made using a feedbag from the Berlin Milling Company,
which was located at the north end of Main Street. Many of the fabrics shown here, including the curtains, were originally flour sacks. Flour could be bought directly from the mill and came in colorful sacks that were then used to make dresses, curtains, aprons, quilts and other household finery. This sewing machine once belonged to Mrs. Calvin B. Taylor. |
